when the world comes crashign down

I didn't write for some time and there is a good reason behind it.

Back during the summer holidays Jacob kept getting stomach aches, not often (3 times over a 6 week period) but if he had them they were severe. And we ended up in the emergency room twice and at the doctors at least 2 times. I was worried that he might have appendicitis and what to do with two kids. Turned out while the appendicitis was troubling him a little (he got antibiotics for that) his white blood cells were abnormal and we got admitted to a different hospital for ALL (acute lymphoblastic leukemia). Talk about shock. This came totally out of nowhere. The diagnosis was confirmed and treatment started the next day. That was back in August. Since then we are fighting Leukemia and have nearly finished the second block of chemo.

Life is tough right now. We (Niklas, Jacob and me) are in the hospital more then 50% of the time at the moment. And when I am home, I am trying to work, catch up on work around the house and prepare the garden for winter.

So far Jacob is doing and responding well to the treatment. It probably helped that they diagnosed him very early, the doctor said he could not have had it more then 6 weeks based on the initial results and that corresponds with the symptoms he had (random fever, not wanting to walk randomly and being pale). As he was diagnosed early, his body was still healthy when he started treatment and could cope better, still after two weeks of chemo, he was quite weak and didn't want to get up or walk at all. He is getting more strength again though. If you want to follow us on facebook, please look for: Jacob's fight against leukemia
