Chickens

So chickens... We wanted chickens for a while now. Jacob is fascinated by them and it's not easy to find animals he likes. With him getting cancer in August 2018, our plans for laying hens last spring was postponed. Earlier this year I checked with the guy who comes every two weeks during summer to our feed store and ordered a few laying hens and a rooster. He told us he would be here on April 11th. When covid-19 hit us and closed everything down, it meant I was not 100% ready for chickens as we had no coop. The plan was to build one, specific for our needs but with the equivalent of home depot closed, I was stuck for material. I repurposed an old but big rabbit hutch, which will help for temporary housing for a week or so.

Anyway our six laying hens arrived and the boys love them and I never knew watching chickens can be this calming,
