A quiet Christmas

We had a turbulent month of December. Jacob started a new block of Chemo at the end of November. The chemo medication was given via his broviac catheter and lasted 24 hours but he had to be on the drip for close to 84 hours and blood results were monitored closely in that time (every 12 hrs after chem finished) to ensure they were OK. It was our toughest block so far. We were supposed to have 10 day breaks in between chemos but we spend at least half of that time in the hospital due to side effects (Fever and inflammation of the mouth, mainly lips) and we only finished half of this block so far, we still have 2 more round of Chemo to go in this block.

The time we spend at home, was spend with decorating for Christmas and baking cookies. I am also still working on things in the garden, to prep for next year and to clean things up. Slowly but surely I see progress. Somethings are purely cosmetic, like preparing flower beds for next year, others are for the vegetable garden, where I have been putting down rabbit manure to cover the ground. It's slow progress but it doesn't matter right now, I will just focus on what I can do and what is in my control and not worry about the rest.

I also added a new rabbit to my flock after the dog of a friend of my renter chased and killed my two breeding does. I am now the proud owner of a New Zealand Red. I have wanted one for years but they are hard to come by where I live and it was pure chance that I found it quite close to where I live. I was actually quite close to butcher my remaining buck as well after the disaster with my other does and take a break until summer from breeding rabbits. But when I saw the New Zealand doe, I just had to take her as the chance to find another one close by is pretty much zero.

We got home from the hospital on Saturday 22nd just in time for Christmas and spend a quiet Christmas at home. We visited friends early in the morning on Christmas Eve, we skipped Church because Jacob's blood results didn't look to promising and I wanted to avoid him getting sick with the masses of people that flock to our church on Christmas Eve. We had some good food and just relaxed and enjoyed ourselves. Despite everything that 2018 brought on us, we had a brilliant Christmas and it was so amazing to see my boys eyes lit up. Attempting a Christmas picture  was a challenge and ended up with lot's of funny pictures but even that was worth it.
